Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless Headphones

Regarding wireless headphones, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 stands out as a strong contender, offering an impressive array of features. With a focus on audio quality, battery life, and noise cancellation, these headphones aim to elevate your listening experience.

Even though these headphones have a lot to offer, from their high-quality sound, sleek appearance, and relatively low pricing, Sennheiser has continued to lead in the industry with a reputation of being a more reasonable alternative to premier headphones like Bose, Apple Beats, Focal, etc.

This review will thoroughly analyze the notable aspects of Sennheiser Momentum 4 wireless that made us review it.

The software has many crazy features and a beautiful user interface. Make the most of your Sennheiser Momentum 4 wireless using its app. To use the EQ feature, lift the cup to pause and use other customization choices.

The bass enhancement feature is the most incredible part. Even though Sennheiser isn’t exactly known for its bass products, we owe it to give them a thumbs up for designing headphones that work well with bass-heavy music, like the Momentum 4 Wireless.

We were surprised when we tried Sennheiser Momentum 4 wireless and put it through the bass test. And that’s not even it; you can also use the touchscreen to activate an automatic bass enhancement. However, if you’d like to increase the bass volume, you can use individualized EQ settings.

The fact that these headphones still provide superb control at +3dB with the booster turned on is astonishing. This is highly unusual, even for high-end headphones like Sennheiser’s. We hope this marks a journey to more astonishing upgrades in Sennheiser’s upcoming models.

Sound Quality: Pleasant Performance, Enough to Impress the Audiophiles

Users praise the “great sound” and note that the physical headphones are “excellent.” Despite minor reservations from a few users, the consensus is that these headphones deliver impressive audio fidelity.

When evaluating a pair of headphones, we use a multi-tiered system.

We check for neutrality first to ensure they will work in the studio. The second is fine-tuning the output, allowing you to tailor the sound for everyday or professional use.

The default Flat option does a great job of producing a neutral and well-balanced audio experience. The bass has a lot of depth and energy, which you can tone down on its companion app to fit your preference. However, it may need to be more detailed. They are still neutral enough to make educated choices while mixing or producing music, and after a bit of EQing, they become “almost” ideal for any purpose.

Not that they aren’t suitable for critical listening, but music connoisseurs with higher standards would benefit from using the Sennheiser app. The product’s out-of-the-box audio quality is excellent. You probably won’t even notice the difference on a day-to-day basis, as the ranges where disparities occur between our aim and the sound of the headphones are places where fit will impact your experience far more profoundly than any other factor.

The midrange is vibrant and lively, creating an enjoyable and exciting listening experience. The tight and satisfying reaction makes it ideal for precision studio work. As it moves into the highs, there is a tiny drop in the upper mids, but it isn’t too apparent.

Phone Calls: ANC Mics For Smooth Conversations

The active noise cancellation (ANC) has been upgraded from the previous Momentum models and is now on par with most of the competition. However, it still needs to be more effective than the market-leading Bose 700 or the Apple AirPods Max in canceling the noise of our air conditioner and kitchen hood exhaust fans.

We were genuinely impressed as we put on the pair to test the call quality on our MacBook for a Zoom meeting.

The app lets you connect a Bluetooth headset to your phone and have conversations utilizing the program’s built-in voice chat features and other customization features.

People on the other end reported our audio as evident, almost like an in-person meeting. It has a far higher-quality sound than the headphones we tested for office use.

Battery Life: Can Keep You Going All Day Long With Single Charge

Battery Life is a strong suit of the Momentum 4. Users describe it as “amazing” and the headphones as “worth every penny” due to their extended battery life. These headphones will keep your music playing for hours and stand out as a top choice.

We neared almost 50 hours of playback with ANC enabled. Wow, that’s incredible! This model’s battery life is so impressive that it destroyed the Sony WH series, which could only last 35–40 hours with ANC turned on.

Fast charging through USB-C just takes 5-6 minutes and adds enough juice for an additional 5-6 hours of use. Our progress in battery technology is remarkable; we now have an hour in a minute.

Noise Cancellation: Superb Immersive Listening Experience

The adaptive noise cancellation of the Momentum 4 headphones has garnered praise for being “really good” and “excellent around the house.” The added auto-pause feature is handy when the headphones are removed, enhancing the listening experience.

You should expect a comfortable amount of ambient noise to be reduced.

In contrast, the exact amount will depend on the microphone’s accuracy and the headphones’ quality. The end effect is a noise-canceling listening experience ideal for the studio or the commute.

Working from home or onsite, escaping the hustle and distracting background noises is necessary to concentrate on work. So don’t be shy to invest in a pair of ANC headphones. It makes a difference if you work in noisy surroundings or prefer silence.

Value For Money: Worth Paying The Significant Price Tag

Many users express their satisfaction with the value for money these headphones offer, emphasizing that they are “worth every penny” and even superior to some competitors. The Sennheiser Momentum 4 is a strong contender for those prioritizing quality over price.

The Sennheiser has won a reputation of being the “second best alternative” to more premier headphones like Apple, Bose, or Focal. But at the same time, though, it’s important to note that these are not exactly ‘cheap alternatives’. These are high-quality headphones, as reflected by their price tags. However, if your budget allows it, these are worth looking at if you want a decent pair of ANC headphones.

Ease Of Use: Comfortable and Intuitive Controls

Ease of use and comfort are essential when choosing headphones. Users find the Momentum 4 headphones “easy to use” and “comfortable.” The balance and comfort surpass some competitors, making these headphones a joy.

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 wireless has been widely praised as an excellent pair of ANC headphones. People rave about the crisp sound and modern design. Some users have complained about the ANC but are willing to ignore it because of the excellent sound quality. The Momentum 4 has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from respected industry publications.

Quality-Overall: Is It Worth The Bucks?

The consensus is that the Momentum 4 headphones are of good quality and significantly improved over previous models. The fidelity and overall audio experience are commendable.

The Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, which comes at a reasonable price for active noise-canceling headphones, is good enough to make many people extremely pleased. However, some may find that other headphones better fit their needs.

While its ANC falls slightly short of the rest of the premium segment, its battery life leaves the competition in the dust. Even though the Sony WH-1000XM5 is better for commuting, the sound quality of the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless is superior.

Connectivity: Smooth as Butter

Bluetooth Version: 5.2

Codec: SBC, AAC, aptX Adaptive

Average drop-outs in an hour: 0 – 2 times

Multi-point connection: Yes

Connectivity is outstanding, with the Momentum 4 headphones connecting immediately to devices and staying connected reliably. You may connect to and switch between several devices with Bluetooth’s multi-point function without hiccups. This is a crucial factor for a seamless listening experience.

Some Setbacks, But Not Necessarily A Deal-breaker

Audio Quality: A Few Unhappy Ears

While most users rave about the sound quality, some are disappointed and experience static in the background. However, it’s worth noting that these complaints are in the minority.

We noticed the two earcups get out of sync while listening to sound/music. This is because a little band of midrange frequencies (at about 2kHz) is slightly more dominant on the left than on the right. It’s essential to keep in mind that imbalances in the bass and midrange, like the one we have here, are typically much more apparent than differences above 10kHz, which are affected mainly by placement on the head and are very hard to match correctly due to the tiny wavelengths involved.

Noise Cancellation Is Not Outstanding

A few users are unsatisfied with noise cancellation, but this largely depends on individual preferences and specific use cases. That’s not quite as good as the other top ANC headphones, but remember that we’re talking about a few percentage point differences in noise reduction. Even if you’re upgrading from a set of headphones like the Sony WH-1000XM5, you won’t be too put off by the little differences, so we won’t call this a weak spot.

Our Verdict

In conclusion, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless headphones shine in several key areas, including audio quality, battery life, and noise cancellation. They offer a premium listening experience for those who prioritize sound quality. However, some users have reported that the headphones feel bulky overhead, and the audio quality put off some users.

Whether these headphones are worth it depends on your individual needs and preferences. And now the real question is, is Sennheiser Momentum 4 a game-changer? We’ll have to say no. Once again, carrying on its legacy, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 is an alternative to Bose 700 or Sony XM5. If you’re an audiophile looking for excellent sound quality and can overlook minor drawbacks, the Momentum 4 is a strong contender in the wireless headphone market.
